
o begin with, letโs clarify something for those who arenโt familiar with the world of shawarmas. The distinction between the Greek gyros and the Turkish doner isnโt just in the nameโitโs also in the concept.

The Turkish shawarma is similar to the Israeli one, while in Greek gyros tzatziki replaces the Humus/Tahini.

Recently, I had the pleasure of dining at Goodness, where I tried their vegan gyros. I must say, it was an absolute delight.

So, hereโs the Goodness dish in a homemade version.

Vegan GyrosGreek Dream: Spread vegan tzatziki on the pita. Scatter tomatoes, hot peppers, and rocket leaves. Add sautรฉed Redefine pulled meat with onion and garlic. Top with fries and roll it up. Serve with a side dish of tzatziki.

- 2-3 Tablespoon olive oil
- 300 gram vegan redefine pulled beef
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon Shawarma Seasoning Blend
- ยฝ teaspoon Ras El Hannut
- salt and pepper to taste
To Serve
- 4 Pita wraps or large Tortilla
- vegan tzatziki
- 12-15 Cherry tomatoes cut lengthwise
- Green or red chili pepper cut into rings
- Rocket leaves
- French fries
Instructionsย
- Pour the oil into a large skillet or a wok, add the onion, and sautรฉ over medium-low heat until the onion is caramelized. Add the minced garlic and stir-fry for a few seconds.
- Add the vegan pulled meat, incorporate the spices, and sautรฉ for a few minutes.
To Serve
- Warm the pita wraps or tortillas in a dry skillet or in the microwave
- Spread tzatziki on the pita, leaving the edges clean. Scatter halved cherry tomatoes, hot peppers, and rocket leaves on top. Add the vegan pulled meat and fries.
- Roll up the pita and serve with a small bowl of tzatziki.
