Yemenite Seasoning Blend
After you make Hawaij at home, you will never settle on a store-bought version.
Like any spice mixture, there are countless versions of Hawaij for soup: add or omit ingredients, increase or decrease amounts, etc. However, one of the essential ingredients is fenugreek seeds – which give the mixture its unique taste.
Hawaij for soup is suitable for many dishes, great in Yemenite bone broth and a thick white bean soup.

Hawaij – Yemenite Seasoning Blend for SoupMaking Hawaij at home is super easy; It takes a moment, and you control the content, quality, and quantity. Keep the Hawaij in a sealed jar; you can also freeze it!

Ingredients
Makes about five Tablespoons
- 1 Tablespoon cumin seeds
- 1 Tablespoon ground turmeric
- 4 tsp coriander seeds
- 1 tsp Black peppercorns
- 1 tsp fenugreek seeds
- 10 pods cardamom
- 10 whole allspice
- 6 whole clove
Instructions
- Grind all the ingredients in a spice grinder until you get a powder.
- store in a sealed jar
Notes
Instead of a spice grinder, you can use the small cup of your ninja.
