What is Hawaij?

✅ Hawaij for soup – perfect for soups, stews, and legumes.

What makes Hawaij for soup so special?
While there are countless variations, the key ingredient is fenugreek seeds, which give this blend its unique flavor. A mix of turmeric, cumin, coriander, and other spices creates a rich, warm blend that pairs beautifully with soups, Indian dal, cooked vegetables, and even rice dishes.
How to Make Hawaij for Soup at Home
Instead of buying a pre-made blend, try making it at home for the freshest, most aromatic version:
Ingredients:
- 1 tablespoon cumin seeds
- 1 tablespoon ground turmeric
- 4 teaspoons coriander seeds
- 1 teaspoon black peppercorns
- 1 teaspoon fenugreek seeds
- 10 cardamom pods
- 10 allspice grains
- 6 cloves
Instructions:
1️⃣ Grind all the whole spices (except turmeric) into a fine powder using a spice grinder.
2️⃣ Add the ground turmeric and mix well.
3️⃣ Store in an airtight container in a dry place.
✨ Tip: For a more intense flavor, toast the seeds in a dry pan before grinding – this releases their natural oils and enhances the aroma.
